No more snow at lake level. The lake is cold! Perhaps just a tad warmer than Lola Montez was last week. A hot day though. One person canceled because of possible thunder showers. We just had some in Reno over the last few minutes. It hasn't cooled things down much.

The coolest thing this time was a deer ran across the trail right in front of me as I was heading back down. As I recall I was between Grass Lake and Jamison Falls. I was hoping to get a picture. Hiking season is winding down for me but I still had a great time hiking up to Jamison Lake. Quite a difference from the peak of the summer. Almost nobody on the trail or at the lake. Next Saturday I'll go to Loch Leven to make up for the snow-filled hike early in the season. But today I couldn't resist Jamison Lake again. I learned something interesting this time. So I'm hiking up to Jamison Lake and after I cross the stream, about a half hour from the lake, I stop for a drink and notice the shallow pocket of my pack unzipped and empty.
